Wound Care

Advanced Wound Treatments

The cause of chronic wounds vary, so we tailor therapies that are responsive to these differences. The Advanced Wound Center offers many care options to provide the best path to healing, which can include some of the following therapies:

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a highly effective treatment for a variety of conditions that include: wounds related to diabetes or radiation injury,  infections of the bone or skin, skin grafts with questionable blood supply, and chronic wounds that haven't improved in four or more weeks. BJC's Advanced Wound Center is the only wound care provider in St. Charles County with trained HBOT specialists.

Debridement
Debridement is the process of removing dead tissue from wounds.

Revascularization
Revascularization restores perfusion to a body part or organ that has suffered ischemia.

Bioengineered Skin Substitutes
Bioengineered skin forms a biological skin substitute for damaged cells.

Compression Therapy
Compression therapy is an advanced treatment for recurrent venous leg ulcers, that can help restore blood flow activity. Compression therapy systems can include hosiery, tubular bandages or other bandage systems.

Negative Pressure Wound Therapy
Negative-pressure wound therapy (NPWT) uses a vacuum dressing to encourage healing in acute or chronic wounds and augment healing of second and third degree burns.
