The goal of clinical studies, also called clinical trials or research studies, is to find the best way to treat cancer. Clinical studies offer patients the option to take advantage of the newest, cutting-edge therapies. Every advance we make in cancer treatment is the result of a clinical study.
People of all ages, walks of life and stages of cancer are encouraged to take part in clinical studies to be sure results apply to everyone. Research has shown some treatments effect people of various age or ethnicity differently. Only through broad-based participation in a clinical study can these differences be known.
Only you and your doctor can decide if a clinical study is best for you, but we encourage all patients to ask their physician if a trial is available and appropriate for them.
