Because the Breast Health & Women's Center focuses on wellness and prevention, videotaped instruction of breast self-examination is an integral part of every mammography screening. Research indicates that former breast cancer patients who are active and do not gain weight are less likely to have a breast cancer recurrence. For a fee, the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital provides nutritional consultation, physical therapy and social services for women under the care of a Siteman oncologist. This program focuses on health -- not the scale -- in a supportive environment. A breast cancer specialist oversees the program and assists women in reaching their goals. Call 636.916.9923.
