The LIVEN program combines nutrition modification, exercise and weight management to improve the quality of life and survival rates of breast cancer patients and prostate cancer patients. LIVEN is available exclusively to patients undergoing treatment at the Siteman Cancer Center at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital. Lymphedema Management (Physician Referral Required)
Lymphedema is a severe swelling of a limb due to poor lymph drainage that often affects breast cancer patients after an axilary dissection (the removal of lymph nodes under the arm). Since the body’s lymph system has a unique and complex circulatory process, clinicians need extensive training to effectively treat the condition.
Mamm Van
Mammograms on the Siteman Cancer Center Mamm Van are performed by expertly trained female technologists. The van is certified by the Food and Drug Administration, and features state-of-the-art digital equipment. Physicians from Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University School of Medicine interpret the mammograms.
