Volunteer Services

Make a Difference in St. Charles County

Volunteers play an important role at Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital and Progress West Hospital. They help us extend our mission of service to our patients, families, staff, community and one another. Volunteers help promote an environment of emotional, spiritual and physical well-being.

Our volunteers are compassionate, friendly, enthusiastic people who are interested in serving a few hours each week at one of our campuses. They come from varied backgrounds and have multiple interests. Minimum age for a volunteer is 18 years old.

Volunteer Opportunities Include:

  • Administrative and clerical support
  • Community health fairs and/or special events
  • Food and nutrition services
  • Gift shop support
  • Outpatient clinics and services
  • Patient care services
  • Patient navigation and wayfinding
  • Pet therapy – must be certified through Duo Dogs or CHAMP Assistance Dogs
  • Supply distribution support

Interested in Applying to Become a Volunteer?

Volunteering is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in other people’s lives, while learning new skills and making new friends. The first step in becoming a volunteer is to complete the online application.

After we receive your application, a team member will contact you and set up a phone interview. Prior to your first day of service, the following must be completed.

  • Provide proof of influenza immunization if you are volunteering during flu season and COVID-19 vaccination.
  • Provide a negative TB test. If you do not have this, you can complete a free 2 step TB skin test through the hospital occupational health department.
